Agent profiles that don't make me gag....

I've avoided doing agent profile videos as they all just make me cringe..... it's all about "me, me, me"....  showing an agent hammering in a fake SOLD sign, talking on a fake phone, shuffling fake papers, hugging fake customers.  I just don't feel those types of things are effective or even watchable.  I'm not going to hire a Realtor because they know how to talk on the @#$@# phone!  LOL

A client of mine wants to do some for each of her agents.  I told her my feelings and she agreed, but we still want to do something.  Something better.

Anyone seen any GOOD agent profiles that aren't similar to the above?

Any suggestions?

I think the ones on the Halstead site are pretty good?

Fred,

Here is a video I did last November...it does not even feature the agents at all.  They have leveraged this video on Facebook and have grown to over 3000 Friends and 1300 Likes.

Charles:  I like that...  That was the first option I suggested that to the broker (have OTHER people talk about your agents... ) but they didn't really want to go that route.  I think agent "profiles" are best when other people talk about the agents, or when the agent is talking about their community and showing their knowledge... and at the same time giving the viewer a glimpse of what they're like, etc.  That's how I've always steered clear of the traditional "me, me, me" agent profiles that I see all over the place.  I just really dislike them and don't think they are effective.  But still on the lookout for a good one!

Here are a couple versions we've done in the past

A Video Business Card template:  http://www.wellcomemat.com/popup/59718C3ED3/ (this one uses a portable studio set up to shoot multiple agents in a day).

A more extensive Profile Video: http://www.wellcomemat.com/popup/942177E100/ (a multi-day shoot)

A fun Commercial Type Video:  http://www.wellcomemat.com/popup/0C92A04111/

I encourage agents to NOT do a profile video.

First off, nobody likes how they look or sound on video.

Second, they usually start off looking like a hostage video.

Third, you just can't pay me enough to deal with the head ache of making one of these.  Well, I guess you could pay me enough, but nobody want to shell out that kind of dough!

This was posted some time ago, and chances are that it's off the radar for most, but I thought I'd share something I've seen work.

Instead of doing agent profiles, do a video blog with different agents addressing various aspects of the market, plus buying and selling, at least four times a week (and five if possible). The blog should soar right up google, the agents will come across more as regular people who know stuff that's useful to buyers and sellers, and sales should go up.  I've interviewed someone doing his own video blog, and he claims that his business has rocketed because of it.

There's little money in this for us, of course, since video blogs can be done with a stationary flip phone, and should be done that way to keep costs down.  But we can get paid for setting it up and coaching the "talent," initially.  And, of course, it builds good will.

As for those who insist on video that I don't think will sell a thing, my question is always, "What will sell?"  Realtors seem to understand this question pretty well ;-).  If they still insist on going ahead with something I think has limited value, hey, maybe they're right and I'm wrong.

But I'm with Hal on one thing:  I charge a lot for this kind of video, in the hope that I won't have to actually do it.  If I have to do it, anyway, at least I'm getting paid for the hassle.

Great video Tourflix.  One reason to have at least a short shot of the person is to help build that personal relationship, so the future client gets a feel for the person they are working with.  Some people are just turned off by a person's looks or voice (who knows why).

As with other businesses, it is important to tell the future client how YOU will help THEM, not how many degrees (or whatever) you have.  It's really not about you.  Using the agent's voice-over with various property or community videos displaying would be good and of course the testimonial is always great.  We have produced a number of  personal business introduction videos - but no agent videos.

Here is a profile video I did for a client with a touch of humor.  Something a little different.
