I think this is a good survey, but how does it get the word out to Realtors? I think a survey should be sent to Realtors.

Frankly, I don't think Realtors have a clue about Video vs. Virtual Tour. The answer above "lack of understanding of video vs. other mediums" is exactly the point. This has helped my business in a very big way. Actually I'm perfectly fine leaving all of the Realtors in my area in the dark! More business for me!

How it has helped me is that I just simply have a Video done of my listings and market it to my sphere, surrounding homes and I get more business. I'm not having to door knock, cold call etc. I think this is exactly how sellers want their home to be showcased.

I'm getting very good response from buyers wanting to see my listings. Probably more than if I didn't have a Video Tour done. And the average that I'm getting them sold is in 60 days time, from listed to closed.

My son does my Video Tours and I'd like to see him get more business and I guess if I have to share him with other Realtors so be it. He did a presentation at my office but they didn't understand the benefits of Video vs. Virtual Tour or just still photos. They think they're saving money but actually they're limiting their ability to make more!  Thanks!

Also just completed it.  I look forward to the results.

Also, Becky, if you didn't catch it, Phil in the header of this post states:

NOTE: This survey is for Filmmakers/Videographers. You can find the Real Estate Professionals survey here.

My sense of how Christian & Phil explained it and by the questions posed in each survey, I think the Real Estate survey will get their (realtors) current usage patterns / thoughts, that in combination with filmmaker / videographer survey here will help us (filmmakers) all better promote video to the real estate industry.

Although ... I see your point ... in that if you're the only realtor in your area, let them all "stay in the dark".

As a videographer, I want to get to the point in my video tour production, like Fred Light states as is the case with him, he's not chasing down new realtor business ... they come to him; and now, better yet, it's increasingly sellers who insist on having a true video (not virtual/visual) tour "requiring" their listing agent use this marketing tool.

If you trust other "video tour veteran" observations of folks like Fred, the vast majority of realtors are reluctant followers of new marketing tools and technology ... with the use of video marketing of listing properties included.  They adopt new things only when they have to (reactionary) ... leaving the market leaders like yourself to set the pace ahead, try new things, and reap the vast majority of the rewards.  By the time they catch on and actually adopt video, video will be a long-time standard practice in your business and you'll then be learning to take advantage of the next new thing that can take your real estate business to new heights.

As far as videographers go and just getting started, helping to create "seller awareness/demand" for use of video tours whenever possible may very well be an equally viable strategy as trying to market to / "convince" old-school realtors to give video marketing a try.

Hello!! We're looking for a few more good filmmakers to fill out this survey. We've almost met our goal, but need a few more. Please share this survey online (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) with fellow video professionals. You can use the links up top. Thanks so much!
