I just bought  Mac Pro and I want to start using it to edit clips from my panasonic hdc-tm300. When I connect it using the usb cable the photos from the camecorder are loading easily but the clips don't even appear.

The HD Writer AE doesn't work with the mac so I have to download the clips directly from the camcorder. Anyone with ideas of how I can go about doing this? Thanks.

Hi Peter,

A couple of thoughts:

Do you have imovie open when you connect your camcorder? Imovie recognizes when camcorders are plugged in via USB and a dialog box pops up offering to import footage. If you don't get the dialog box, you can go to File>Import in imovie to import manually.

If you're still having trouble, perhaps your camera isn't supported by imovie? Google imovie camcorder compatiblity to find Apple's list of compatible camcorders.

Good luck.

Thanks Shelley,

Actually the problem is that the Mac is dated and it doesn't have an intel processor so it can't work with my panasonic. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

That's exactly the problem Peter, it's the Mac.  I have an intel Mac and  Panasonic 300 and it works great.  My Mac is a little over a year old. You'll have to upgrade I'm affraid.
