This came up in another post.  Someone asked about searching post/threads on The Hood for specific keywords/text.  I posted the information below to state that I believe it's there ... and it works ... but isn't obvious (i.e. as intuitive) as it could be.

Unless Christian or Phil might know of a different or better way, please see below for what steps I use to keyword text search topics on The Hood.

=============================

It's been awhile ... and I could be wrong, but I seem to recall a time when you could search the hood.  (The context was that at the time I wanted to know if any post(s) / comment(s) anywhere on The Hood referenced a certain camera ... as in ... had anyone on The Hood ever talked about the Canon HFS10, Nikon D90 ... or whatever.)

But I agree that on the surface the "Search The Hood" functionality doesn't presently seem to exist.

I’ve discovered though that if you:

1.      Click “The Hood” tab and let the page load.

a.       Notice there’s something like 542 threads on The Hood.

2.      Type the keyword text for your search in the box next to the dropdown choice that includes “Members / Group Channels / Filmmakers”.

a.       Example:  “stabilizer”

3.      Then go change the “Sort By” choice (“Most Recent Post/Comment” … or … “Most Commented”)

a.       That will actually re-sort the list while applying your “filter” (i.e. the keyword search)

b.      Using the “stabilizer” example, you now see 27 Posts listed.

c.       If you wanted “the other sort order”, just re-sort the list one more time.

It’s not exactly obvious … or pretty … but seems to do the job.

I hope that helps.
