Meticulously crafted Earth Block home, energy-efficient, quiet, natural surrounding by mature ponderosa pine and gambel oak. Built in 2006, this all-electric home with ample passive solar is constructed of 14" x 10" x 6" earth blocks manufactured on-site. Earth block makes the home cool in summer and warm in winter, while eliminating irritating by-products that may affect those with chemical sensitivities. It features a large solarium, bamboo and tile floors, radiant floor heat, an energy-efficient ETS (Electronic Thermal Storage) unit, wood stove, aspen tongue-and-groove ceilings, and much more. Several support beams were cut on-site. Interior walls are coated with mud plaster from on-site soil. The exterior is stucco with a single ridgeline metal roof, making it virtually maintenance-free. Woodwork and doors are untreated, natural pine. Ceiling heights are varied throughout the house from a high of 16' in the solarium to 11' in the living room, master and 2nd bedroom, and 8' in the kitchen, dining, and 3rd bedroom. Ceiling fans in the master bedroom, living room and solarium help with air-flow. The carpet in all three bedrooms is made from recycled materials that do not off-gas. The roof is pre-wired for solar panels. An over-size 2-car garage built of earth block stays above freezing even on the coldest days.
